For 15 years Alex Crow served as a policeman in the Metropolitan Police. Then, about 20 years ago, he left to pursue his dreams of performing for a living. He decided to become a mindreader! After studying body language, psychology, NLP, hypnosis and a host of other techniques, he now travels all over the world performing and training. One day he would be doing a stage show on a cruise ship and the next running a Stress Busting Workshop. He is proud to have what he considers the best job in the world!
Techniques for re-thinking stress...
Over the past few years Alex has become more and more interested in developing resilience and how to prevent and minimise the effects of stress. So, he put together series of workshops and Stress Boffin was born!
During the workshops the attendees practice a number of Mindfulness exercises as well as some useful NLP techniques for re-thinking stress, dealing with conflict and enhancing communication. Many attendees have also told us that they enjoy the snippets of psychology which are shared to show how our minds work and why stress is such an issue.
This stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming. Essentially, a host of different techniques, which are mainly language based, that can create new pathways in the brain. Thus, allowing you to eliminate old destructive habits and ways of thinking. This means you can put in place more productive and useful ways to deal with the challenges that you have. One of the benefits of NLP is the speed in which it works – a very effective way of dealing with a host of problems.
This is very popular at the moment, although it has been practiced for hundreds of years. Most of the current practices are based on the buddhist tradition. Essentially Mindfulness is about becoming aware of the here and now. Learning to ignore the destructive thought patterns which permeate our every waking moment. It is increasingly being used in the health service and education and is starting to be used in business environments too. It is particularly good for dealing with anxiety, stress, depression, as well as enhancing productivity and creativity. It is also brilliant at building resilience
A technique that allows us to talk to the subconscious part of the mind, in a safe and gentle way. This is very relaxing and a great way to achieve lasting change. At the end of the workshops, every attendee is provided with audio tracks of some of the exercises as well as an hour long hypnotherapy track designed to ease stress.
